How To Fold Your Underwear To Save Space

Fed up of your overflowing knicker drawer, stuffed to the brim and leaving you unable to find the pair you want? While it can take a little time, folding your underwear could actually save space and it can make it much easier to find the pair you’re after. Below, you can find our top three methods for folding and rolling your knickers!

How To Fold Knickers

Folding your knickers isn’t an exact science, but there are some methods that you might want to explore that allow you to put your knickers tidily into a drawer or drawer organiser. This way, you can see all of your options at a glance and find the perfect pair for your day more easily!

Below, we explain how you can fold and roll your knickers, depending on your preference, and we’ve also included a special method for thongs and G-strings too!

How To Fold Knickers Into A Square

Folding your knickers into a square makes them easier to line up inside a drawer.

Step 1: Lay your knickers on a flat surface, such as a bed or table.

Step 2: Pull the crotch up so it folds horizontally in the middle and meets the top of the waistband.
Step 3: Fold the right side of the knickers into the centre and then the left side over the top (pictured below). You’ll be left with a rectangular shape.

Step 4: Fold the rectangle in half to create a small square that should stand up on its own on one edge
Step 5: Place in your drawer organiser and move on to the next pair.
This method is ideal for brief knickers (including Brazilian and Tanga briefs). For high-waisted briefs, we’d recommend folding them into three horizontally instead of doing Step 2 above, so that the knickers can be folded more narrowly.

How To Roll Knickers
Step 1: Lay your knickers on a flat surface, such as a bed or table.
Step 2: Pull the crotch up so it folds horizontally in the middle and meets the top of the waistband.
Step 3: Fold the left side over the right side to create a small square of fabric.
Step 4: Tightly roll the underwear starting from any side of the square you choose.
Step 5: Place in your drawer organiser and move on to the next pair.

How To Fold A Thong
Thongs and G-strings can be tricker to fold because they’re so delicate and don’t have a lot of material. However, there’s still a way they can be stored neatly. Unlike other pairs of knickers, where you fold the crotch up first, we’re going to start by folding in the two sides (pictured below).

Step 1: Lay your knickers on a flat surface, such as a bed or table.
Step 2: Fold the right side of the thong into the middle and then the left side.
Step 3: Bring the crotch up so it folds horizontally and creates a rectangle shape.
Step 4: Fold the thong in half again to create a smaller square.
Step 5: Place in your drawer organiser and move on to the next pair.

How To Fold Knickers For Travel

You can use some of the above methods when packing knickers for traveling, but the key is placing them in the right place within your suitcase or bag.

Knickers can be rolled or folded to such a small size, they’ll fit inside some of your shoes, which is a great space-saving hack. They can also be pushed into small corners and spaces that other items of clothing don’t fit into. For this reason, consider packing your knickers last and finding those cubby holes they’ll fill out.
If you want to be super organised, you can pack using travel storage cubes/bags. These keep all your items separate so it’s easy to find the things you need when you need them.
