The brand focuses on manufacturing high-quality, on-trend pieces in a variety of sizes. Wacoal started with one man who created a gift for this wife. The founder, Koichi Tsukamoto describes, “Nobody was making bras in Japan at the time [1946], so I devised one by cutting a paper pattern and giving it as a gift to my wife.” Inspired by the western market, the founder began mass-producing bras and over the years became one of the market leaders in lingerie. Since moving into the international market Wacoal has gone on to create a whole family of brands so not only do they have their own collection that you see below, but supply some very well-known brands. Brands such as Freya, Elomi, Fantasie, and Goddess all are a part of the Wacoal family. Even now after many years the brand is looking for new ways to create the best lingerie and expand.
