Summer is finally here, and it’s likely you’ll be finalising your holiday outfits and packing your suitcase ready to jet off to a sunny, far-off destination. But if you’re super organised or just like to stay ahead of the trend, you may already be thinking about your summer 2024 holiday.
If you’re wondering which destinations are going to be popular amongst travel trendsetters and influencers next year, look no further. We have taken to Instagram and Google Trends to find out which locations are hotting up right now. Maybe you are looking for the perfect beach so you can put on your best swimwear and go for a quick dip, or a city with a spa, these destinations cover all your needs for 2024.
As part of our research, we used Skyscanner to find out the cost of the cheapest flights to each destination that made the top 10 for 21st July to 28th July 2023*. We also looked at what the top attraction is for each destination according to TripAdvisor, and the must-have fashion accessory you need for each location.
So let’s take a look at the top holiday destinations we think are going to be all over your social media feeds in 2024!
Barcelona, Spain
If you’re searching for a destination with a perfect mix of history, culture and beach life, and a unique atmosphere, look no further than the Spanish city of Barcelona. With 68 million results for #Barcelona on Instagram and 673,000 searches on Google Trends, it’s no surprise that Barcelona ranks number one in our 2024 holiday destinations forecast.
The city offers beautiful beaches like La Barceloneta to surf and sunbathe, a wide variety of Catalan dishes to devour, and an array of architecture to soak in, like the Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila, and Casa Batllo. It also has a thriving nightlife scene, multiple museums to explore and is home to one of the most successful football clubs, FC Barcelona.
