Over the 15 years we have been going, we have worked with so many people over on Instagram and Facebook and now it’s time to learn a little more about them and introduce our blog readers to our social media community. Welcome to a new blog series, where we are doing a little Q&A with some of our social media beauties. Starting off with Laura Nolan, who we love working with, over on our YouTube. She does fabulous product reviews for Belle Lingerie and also our naughty little sister Sexy Belle.
Here at Belle Lingerie, we are all about lingerie, swimwear and loungewear so it’s nice to learn some facts and interesting things about Laura herself. Apart from the usual facts like name and where Laura is from (Stockport, Cheshire), we of course had to ask about furry friends, we didn’t expect her to say 2 horses! When we asked, she said, “I have a dog, Ollie who is a 5-year-old Springer Spaniel and 2 horses – 28-year-old Bonnie and 3-year-old Lilly.”
With 2 horses it wasn’t a surprise when she said her main hobby is horse riding. Laura explains –
“I’m incredibly lucky and have had my first horse Bonnie since we were both 15 and have competed in pretty much every discipline and I am hoping to do the same with my younger horse, Lilly. I now occasionally compete in dressage but there’s nothing better than just riding around the countryside. I also love makeup, especially creating more unique looks or doing full transformation looks of film or tv characters as it’s so much fun to see how different you can make yourself look with different makeup and/or hair colour.”
We did dig a bit deeper to learn more about Laura and asked for a fun story and one word her family and friends would describe her with. “I think the first word they would use would be shy! At least until I get to know you then I probably won’t shut up! And one thing that people might not know about me/be able to guess is that from the age of about 3, I helped my Grandad to build and restore classic motorbikes. My favourite was a bright metallic purple Velocette bike that my Grandad kept for years purely for this reason.” We love the idea of a bright purple motorbike!
Day to day Laura runs her own small business – Bon Designs. You can buy cute pet keepsake and resin art items. We are also very thankful she spends her spare time creating our YouTube review videos. Her average day “starts with bringing the horses in as they are on the field all night and giving them their buckets and hay as well as mucking out the stables. This sometimes includes riding, but this obviously depends on the British weather! Then it is normally time to walk the dog and I’m lucky to live in the beautiful countryside so are never short of places to walk. The rest of my day is filled between filming and editing videos for Belle Lingerie and Sexy Belle’s YouTube channels – and also my own YouTube channel – and making, designing and posting out keepsake items for customers as each is made to a bespoke design. Around 6pm I go back to see the horses to again feed and muck out and do any other jobs that need doing – normally having a groom and cuddle with each of them! Once home, it’s time to walk Ollie again and then my evening is normally filled with a bit more editing of both videos and photos while watching whichever tv series I’m hooked on.”
When it comes to the weekend, Laura takes a step back and chills. Well, when she says, “weekends are normally spent not doing much!” she still means, “Sunday mornings are always spent with the horses as this is when I normally go on a hack and do about 6-8 miles and it’s all up and down steep hills. Normally over the weekend, I get packages already for the post office on a Monday morning from my resin business.” That’s still a lot to us!
Of course, for us, the lingerie and style preferences were a must in this interview. We wanted to know all when it came to lingerie, bras, and Laura’s general style so we piled on the questions. Some this or that and some that needed a bit more explanation. So here you are:
Bra Size? 32A
Underwired or Non-wired? Underwired (“Saying that, I do love a good bralette!”)
Padded or non-padded? Padded
Favourite lingerie brand? “So hard to choose just one lingerie brand as I love so many! Sloggi is definitely up near the top as their lingerie is just so comfortable and they have a huge range of styles and also colours. I also find their sizing perfect for me as I am on the smaller side! Their bralettes are also incredibly comfy, so much so, that I usually wear them to sleep in.”
Favourite bra of all time? “Right now, it has to be the Lepel Fiore bra in coral as it just fits perfectly, and I love that the padding can be removed if needed. Also, the colour is just beautiful, and I think it looks amazing when on”
Favourite type of bra? “My favourite type of bra to wear for every day is just a classic t-shirt style bra as they are just easy to wear, you don’t have to think too much about it as it just does its job and of course, available in so many colours and normally very easy to make a matching set with.”
Describe your style? “My style is very simple and day to day, as I’m normally at the yard or walking the dog, I can normally be found in leggings and a comfy jumper. If I’m out somewhere, I got between skinny jumps or a high waisted skirt with a jumper and normally a leather jacket and always a pair of ankle boots!”
Loungewear or dressing up at the weekend? “Definitely loungewear, I’m all about the comfort no matter what day of the week it is!”
And finally, because it’s quite a trend at the moment, do you ever wear underwear as outerwear? “Yes, a lace bodysuit over a plain top with a pair of jeans is definitely a favourite look of mine and during summer, a bralette or a bikini top with a pair of shorts. Wearing lingerie as outerwear is such a fun way to show off something that would normally be hidden too.”
Since we are all dreaming of going away at the moment and who hasn’t planned their next poolside look yet, we wanted to ask Laura some holiday questions. First thing’s first, favourite holiday destination? “I love Edinburgh! Just the feel of the city is amazing and there’s always something going on or a part of the city you haven’t seen before. I do have a huge list of places I want to visit – soon hopefully.” We couldn’t agree any more, the Edinburgh castle looks stunning at sunset! Obviously, we quickly moved onto the topic of swimwear. Just like us, Laura buys her swimwear to “sit and chill in the sun!” And when we asked – bikini, tankini or swimming costume? Laura replied, “I love a 2-piece set and either matching or mix and match. You can’t go wrong with a classic triangle bikini top, especially since I am on the smaller side, I just find this style quite flattering.”
