Now that Christmas and New Year celebrations are well and truly over, your thoughts might be turning to that long-awaited holiday, soaking up the sun on some far away beach. If so, now is the perfect time to look at the swimwear trends for Spring 2014.
So what’s going to be hot for the beach this year?
One new trend which is taking off in a big way is the high-waisted bikini brief. The new silhouette, a retro look which is both chic and comfortable to wear, is a big change from the low-rise styles which have been so popular over recent years.
Another retro style which is going to be popular in 2014 is the deep, bustier style bikini top. This versatile style of top can be worn as part of a bikini or with shorts or a beach skirt. An underwired style will give excellent support for larger cup sizes.
This year is going to be about mixing and matching to get a look which reflects the real you. Try teaming a plain black bikini bottom with a bold animal print top or mix bright colours and patterns to get that head-turning appeal.
Neon shades, so popular in the 50’s and 60’s, are making a big comeback this year. Look for eye-popping shades of yellow, green, pink and orange to make the impact you want to on the beach.
One look which is going to be as popular this year as it was last is the nautical look. Bright and bold stripes in navy and white or red are to be seen everywhere and never fail to please. Freya St Louis in Lipstick Red and white gives a new take on this look and comes in a fantastic range of mix and match styles.
When you have chosen your fab new swimsuit or bikini, what about a beach dress to finish off the look? Whether you prefer a mini or a maxi length, there are styles to suit every shape and taste.
The Freya Manhattan beach dress, for example, is short and cute with a pretty frilled neckline and is the perfect cover-up to go with your new bikini.
