8th March is International Women’s Day. This
annual event is part celebration of the contribution that women across the
world make to society and part campaign to call for equality and change on
gender issues. This year’s theme is #BeBoldForChange.
We think that being bold starts with being confident in our
own skin and while we may not change the world with our underwear, lingerie can
certainly contribute to better body confidence which in turn empowers us to be
brave and achieve success.
Anyone can have body hang ups; it’s a fallacy that this is
the reserve of curvy women, so this blog celebrates all body shapes with some lingerie
suggestions that could make even the most self-conscious feel pretty amazing.
And then, who knows what you could achieve!
Bras for smaller
boobs
Some women can feel self-conscious, or even less feminine,
if they have a smaller bust. Making the most of what you have and creating
shape and contour can give you a boost. It’s much more about positive body
image than impressing men!
If you have a smaller
bust you have a few options. Because you perhaps don’t need the support and
structure that women with a bigger bust requires, you can go for comfort with a
bralette
which gives you coverage under your clothes and is still really pretty. A padded bra
will give you great shape and a plunge bra can give you a great cleavage – even
if you don’t choose to let anyone see it but you!
Bras for larger busts
If you have larger breasts you can sometimes feel defined by
them and that it’s the first thing that people notice about you. Whether you
choose to accentuate them or minimise them you can certainly do that with the
right bra.
Physically, larger boobs need more support. An ill-fitting
bra can lead to back problems, bad posture and aching shoulders where straps
can rub. Having strong posture and feeling good, on the other hand, will help
you project a powerful image of yourself and the right bra can really help with
that. Luckily there is lots of choice these days and the bras are just as
pretty and feminine as the smaller sizes.
A number of brands now specialise in lingerie for fuller
figures such as Curvy Kate
and Elomi
and we offer bras up to size 46K so you couldn’t fail to find something that
fits!
If you want support and to keep things well in place, go for
a full
cup or a side
support bra. If you really want to flaunt what you have, why not go for a balcony
bra.
Smoothing out those
curves
If you don’t feel comfortable in your own skin, you put this
out there in the way you carry yourself. If you have curves, embrace them! Shapewear,
a well-fitting supportive bra or just the right fit of knickers can smooth your
curves and make you feel great – it’s not so much about hiding your shape, it’s
about being in control of it.
Celebrating being a
woman
International Women’s Day is a good time to reflect on how
far women have come and yet how far we have to go. Accepting who we are and creating
positive role models starts with learning to love our bodies, no matter what
size or shape we are so celebrate being a woman and be proud of your body!
